Did George Mallory and his companion Andrew Irvine become the first men to reach the summit of Everest on June 8, 1924? Only the small Kodak Vest Pocket they were supposed to use to photograph themselves on the roof of the world could reveal the truth.

Seventy years later in Kathmandu, Fukamachi, a young Japanese reporter in search of a scoop, believes he recognizes this camera in the hands of the mysterious Habu Jôji, a rogue climber thought to have disappeared years ago. This encounter will lead Fukamachi into a world of mountaineers consumed by passion, driven by the thirst for impossible conquests, and will slowly pull him towards the summit of the gods. Hoping to find the answer to the Mallory enigma, he will confront his own demons along the way.

Stills

«Fukamachi meets those who crossed paths with Habu, who loved, hated, feared, or admired him, and pieces together, from fragments of the past, the mosaic of a personality more complex than one might have thought.»
